The Santos Aboriginal Power Cup is Port Adelaide Football Club’s flagship Aboriginal community program. Now in its twelfth year, and with a competitive football carnival as its centrepiece, the program provides students with the opportunity to enhance their education and personal development through engagement in their Aboriginal culture and identity, education, promoting healthy lifestyle choices and developing teamwork, leadership and life skills.

This year’s event was held at Karen Rolton Oval and involved over 400 students attending years 10-12 with 24 overarching teams from 75 schools in South Australia. To be involved in the carnival, students are required to follow a set of strict guidelines focused on a minimum of 80% school attendance and targets set towards both academic and behavioural aspects of the program.

Many of the competing students are also participating in Power Community Limited’s Aboriginal AFL Academy, which is dedicated to the educational success of school aged Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander footballers.

Herbalife Nutrition supports the nutrition education component of this program, which enhances student’s knowledge of health and nutrition.
