On January 11, nearly 50 intrepid Herbalife Nutrition Independent Members will set out from Torquay in Victoria on an epic 840Km journey ending at Spectacular in Adelaide in a bid to raise funds that will provide nutrition education programs to children in need. All fundraising goes toward Herbalife Nutrition Foundation (HNF) in support of the nutrition education programs run by our six Casas, or Charity Partners, in Australia and New Zealand. Since its inception, this completely Member-run event has raised over $430,000. This year’s cohort of riders and crew have an ambitious target that will take the total amount raised by the event above and beyond the landmark achievement of raising over $500,000 to help children gain essential nutrition education.
The cohort of Members in the HNF 2020 Bike Ride is made up of 27 riders and 20 support crew. Some will be participating for the first time, and others will be getting back on the saddle for gruel and glory all over again. Some of them have shared their ‘Why’ with us.
Michael Hart, WA, Australia
Michael is participating as a rider for the second time. The cause is close to his heart, because “We lost one of our twin boys to a brain tumour and had support from Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation, so it is a very meaningful association that we can give back to through the HNF ride.” Participating in the HNF Bike Ride has helped Michael and his wife Rhonda “develop an even stronger bond and bigger purpose with the company.” They value the “incredible, long-term friendships” they have made with the other participants, and the “positive impact on the lives of those who benefit from our donations”.
Sandra Todorovic, NSW, Australia
“In January 2016 I went to Spectacular in Adelaide and I saw riders being recognised on stage. I was so inspired and I just wanted to be a part of it. I joined in 2018 to prove to myself that I can do this, just as I was about to turn 40. Also, growing up in a small Balkan country where my school days were spent during a civil war, I understand what it’s like to live with hardship. In recent years, I was fortunate enough to build a new life and become part of an amazing community whose focus is helping the whole world become healthier and happier. I was able to finish the ride thanks to my willpower and the best nutrition in the world. The HNF Bike Ride means a lot to me. It represents everything that Herbalife Nutrition is. This is my opportunity to give back to the community.”
Les Turia, New Zealand
This will be Les’ first time participating in the HNF Bike Ride. His favourite training location is the Wellington Hills, and he is joining for the opportunity to give back to the community. Les states it’s for the “self-challenge, and to help raise money for Life Education Trust, which helps our unfortunate kids in New Zealand.” Herbalife Nutrition products play an important part in Les’ training: including CR7 Drive, NRG, and Formula 1 shakes.
Herbalife Nutrition Foundation was established as a vehicle for our members to give back to the community and improve young people’s lives by helping charity organisations provide healthy food and nutrition education programs to children and youth at risk.
Please support the HNF 2020 Bike Ride participants by donating to help raise as much money as possible for our Casa Partners: The Infants’ Home (NSW), Lighthouse Foundation (VIC), Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation (WA), Sunshine Butterflies (QLD), Power Community Limited (SA) and Life Education Trust in New Zealand.
These charities provide nutrition education and support programs to children and youth, including those experiencing homelessness, economic hardship, family breakdown, chronic illness, physical disability, emotional challenges, complex nutritional needs and other vulnerabilities.
