APRIL 4 2017, AUSTRALIA -- Global Nutrition Company, Herbalife, will embark on an Australian health and wellness tour from April 18-27, encouraging Australians to embrace a healthy, active lifestyle.
To educate both Herbalife members and the general public about the nutritional requirements of leading a healthy lifestyle, and the benefits of effective supplementation, Herbalife Nutrition has organised a seventh Australian Wellness Tour, which builds upon the successes of the past six tours.
Led by Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB) member Dr. Darren Burgess, the Wellness Tour will visit five Australian cities at the end of April 2017, touring through Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney. Dr. Burgess is an expert in sports science and nutrition, with extensive experience in education, training, sports science and fitness coaching for several top Australian national and regional sporting organisations.
The latest snapshot of Australia’s health from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, shows that 63.4% of the adult population – or 11.2 million Australians —are now overweight or obese.
In just 20 years, the number of overweight and obese Australians has jumped more than 12%, and it is predicted that obesity rates in Australia are expected to increase, with an anticipated 7.2 million obese people by 2025. By then, obesity will have cost the Australian government 87.7 billion dollars in direct and indirect costs*.
Herbalife Nutrition and Dr. Burgess are on a mission to combat this obesity issue. As a specialist in sports science and nutrition, and through his current high performance role with Port Adelaide Football Club and previous experience with English Premier League stalwarts Liverpool, the Herbalife Wellness Tour is Dr. Burgess’ platform to share his wealth of knowledge, and assist everyday Australians in easily embracing a healthy active lifestyle.
“In 2017, the new health regime will be completely focused on a personalised health and wellness plan. What you eat and how you exercise is imperative to your success, and it is important to customise a lifestyle plan that fits your needs.”
“Australia is the fourth largest Sports Nutrition market in the world. While many people are now starting to focus on their personal health, staying on track can be hard - especially if you are tackling it on your own. Developing a support system of people who know your goals, strengths, and weaknesses can be extremely beneficial in keeping your healthy and active lifestyle going,”
“I’m excited to embark on my third Wellness Tour for Herbalife Nutrition, and I’m excited to share my knowledge on how to personalise your own health and nutrition,” Dr. Darren Burgess said.
Rod Taylor, General Manager of Herbalife Australia and New Zealand, said “It’s great to see Herbalife Nutrition out there making an effort to change the lives of Australians. Through our seventh Wellness Tour and with the guidance of our NAB Doctor Darren Burgess, we hope to again equip people with the right tools to develop a greater knowledge of health, wellness and good nutrition across Australia.”
Dr. Darren Burgess is available for comment, and requests for one on one media interviews during the 2017 Herbalife Wellness Tour are welcome.
