Herbalife Nutrition keeps wheels spinning for fourth 850km bike ride to raise funds for children’s charities

Australia, 9th December 2016 — Global nutrition company Herbalife will support a group of cyclists for their fourth year, in a grueling 850km bike ride in January 2017. The riders aim to raise AUD $200,000 for the Herbalife Family Foundation’s Casa Herbalife program, doubling their previous year’s efforts.

The ride will again raise funds for the Herbalife Family Foundation, which assists children and youth in need in The Infants Home in Sydney, The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation in Perth, Melbourne’s Lighthouse Foundation, and for the first time this year, the Starship Foundation in New Zealand.

The Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF) Bike Ride will commence in Torquay on the 7th of January 2017, with participants making five pit stops in Mortlake, Casterton, Kingston, Meningie, and Strathalbyn before reaching Adelaide on the 12th of January.
The HFF bike ride continues to gain momentum year on year. This year, an increase on the previous year’s ride - 36 riders & 20 crew will now tackle the road between Victoria and Adelaide. The eager cyclists have been training for months, ramping it up in December in preparation for the ride in a months’ time.

The participants have all turned their lives around through fitness and nutrition, and achieved significant personal milestones in their personal journeys. An incredible 20 of the 36 riders will be embarking on their first major ride.

After turning his own life around and discovering a new love for cycling, event organiser Kevin Beale initiated the first event with a small team of five in 2013, and the HFF bike ride has since grown in both participants and fundraising efforts for the CASA Herbalife program. The inaugural event raised AUD $30,000, followed by another successful event in 2015 which raised $48,000 and finally in 2016 a grand total of $103,000 for the Herbalife Family Foundation.

Rod Taylor, General Manager, Herbalife Australia and New Zealand, says, "We are proud to sponsor this event for the fourth year and hope that this ride will motivate others to set challenges, and try something new to help their community. The riders are the perfect example of Herbalife’s philosophy of a healthy active lifestyle, supported by balanced nutrition."

To ensure participants are fueled and hydrated throughout the 6 day ride, Herbalife will provide all ride participants with products from their new sports nutrition range, Herbalife24.

Each cyclist taking part in the 2017 ride has changed their personal health and wellbeing. Cyclists will be available for interviews and photographs.
