CELEBRATING FIVE INSPIRING YEARS OF THE HERBALIFE FAMILY FOUNDATION BIKE RIDE TO SUPPORT CHILDREN WITH BETTER NUTRITION

AUSTRALIA, December, 2017 – Early next year, Herbalife Nutrition celebrates the fifth year of supporting the Herbalife Family Foundation Bike Ride fundraising initiative, which raises  funds to provide nutrition to children in need around the world.

This initiative, run by Herbalife Nutrition Independent Members, is committed to raising funds for the Herbalife Family Foundation, and has raised more than AUD $250,000 since 2014. The Herbalife Family Foundation is a global, non-profit organisation that provides grants to existing charitable organisations, to ensure children receive better nutrition, nutrition education and the support of community volunteers.

In Australia, the Herbalife Family Foundation supports The Infants’ Home in Sydney, Melbourne’s Lighthouse Foundation, The Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation and Sunshine Butterflies near Tewantin/Noosa in Queensland.

One of the Ride’s organisers, Kerrie Bowie, a 53-year-old woman from Mount Nathan in the Gold Coast Hinterland, was part of the first ride five years ago, and has watched the event grow each year since. She is currently training for her fifth Ride, which sets off in Torquay at 5am on Saturday 3 February 2018, and will arrive in Adelaide on the morning of Thursday 8 February 2018.

From just five riders and three crew members on the first ride in 2014, the Ride in 2018 will see 33 riders and 19 crew participate, with more than 50 team members, riders and crew making the journey whilst raising funds for a great cause along the way.

“Each year I get something different from the experience,” Kerrie said.

“The first year was an incredible self-discovery - the pain, the tiredness, the physical exhaustion, the blisters, the sunburn, the crazy 40+ degree heat - as long as the mind was willing (and that was a real challenge), the body could do it too!”

As an organiser of the event, Kerrie finds the ride truly rewarding, meeting people from all over Australia and New Zealand who travel to Torquay with a genuine commitment to helping children receive better nutrition.

“I have had the privilege of visiting The Infants Home in Sydney several times now, spending time with the children and seeing firsthand the incredible work of the Home, and how it’s supported by Herbalife Family Foundation. Ultimately, this is why I am part of this event - the children!”

Rod Taylor, General Manager, Herbalife Nutrition Australia and New Zealand said that Herbalife Nutrition was proud to support such a worthwhile member initiative.

“Nothing is more important to us than helping people live healthier and happier lives, which is why we are supporting the Herbalife Family Foundation Bike Ride for the fifth consecutive year. We are so proud of our members, whose generosity has been instrumental in our fundraising efforts to provide better nutrition and nutrition education to disadvantaged children in Australia, New Zealand and beyond,” said Rod.

“We are ensuring the riders and their support crew are kept well hydrated and fuelled with products from the Herbalife24 sports nutrition range.  We really couldn’t be happier to closely follow and support their journey.”

The HFF Bike Ride starts on 3 February 2018 in Torquay, and ends on 8 February 2018 with riders crossing the finish line in Adelaide. To make a donation, please visit https://donate.good2give.ngo/hff.
